Product Information

Disc wood chipper from REMET CNC with hydraulic feed

The REMET CNC RT-630R is a robust disc wood chipper for tractors with hydraulic feed – ideal for agriculture, municipalities and garden and forestry businesses.

The infinitely variable feed rate ensures uniform, efficient processing and increases operating safety. Chip size is set precisely via four replaceable blades and one counter blade.

Hydraulic feed – the decisive feature

The hydraulic feed enables comfortable, controlled intake – less jamming, greater throughput.

Why this makes the difference becomes clear compared with a chipper without powered feed:

Without powered feed, material has to be pushed in by hand. This is physically demanding, uneven – and the most dangerous part of the work. Branched material catches, is drawn in abruptly and takes the hand with it.

With hydraulic feed, you place the branch material in the hopper and the feed rollers do the rest. Hands stay outside the danger zone.

Infinitely variable feed rate – uniform instead of intermittent

This is the technical core and the reason for the higher throughput: the feed rate can be adjusted steplessly to suit the material.

With thick, hard wood, intake is slowed – the cutting disc maintains its speed. With fine, branched material, feeding is faster.

The effect: the machine works consistently at its performance limit instead of oscillating between idling and overload. A uniformly fed chipper achieves considerably more in practice than one that is repeatedly stalled and revved up again.

Increased operating safety

The manufacturer states this explicitly as an advantage, and it is the most important point of all: manual feeding is the most common cause of accidents on wood chippers.

Hydraulic feed removes the operator from the critical area. You load, step back – the machine works.

Disc technology – the design for long chips

Unlike a roller chipper, this machine works with a rotating cutting disc of approx. 620 mm diameter carrying the blades.

The advantages of this design:

High flywheel mass. The solid disc stores energy and works through load peaks without the speed dropping. This is why a disc chipper pulls through even with thick branches.

Clean, uniform chips. The cut is made across the grain with a defined chip thickness – the result is genuine wood chips, not shredded material.

Powerful discharge. The disc simultaneously acts as a fan, throwing the chips forcefully through the discharge chute – the prerequisite for the 155 cm discharge height.

4 cutting blades plus counter blade – adjustable chip thickness

The combination of 4 cutting blades and 1 counter blade is the actual cutting mechanism: the counter blade holds the material while the rotating blades cut against it – like a pair of scissors.

The clearance between blade and counter blade determines cutting quality. If it is too large, the material is crushed rather than cut; this costs power and produces fibrous chips. Regular checking of this clearance is therefore the most important maintenance task.

The chip thickness is adjustable – the chips can thus be matched to the intended use.

Blades in wear-resistant steel

The blades are replaceable and made of wear-resistant steel. As a plannable wear part they can be resharpened and, where necessary, replaced individually – not as a complete assembly.

Up to 120 mm wood diameter – reading the three figures correctly

MaterialMax. diameter
Fresh softwood120 mm
Fresh hardwood100 mm
Dry hardwood80 mm

This differentiated statement is more honest than a single maximum figure. Fresh wood is softer and easier to cut than dry wood.

Practical tip: process branch material while fresh – this protects the blades, increases throughput and extends the workable diameter by up to 40 mm.

Feed hopper 48 × 48 cm – for branched material

The large feed hopper of 48 × 48 cm is expressly designed for branched material too.

This is where working time is decided: a branch with side shoots does not have to be trimmed first. You place it in, the hydraulic feed draws it in.

The square format of 48 × 48 cm is practical: it accommodates both wide-spreading and tall branch forks.

360° rotatable discharge chute – the flexibility gain

The discharge chute is rotatable through a full 360° with a discharge height of approx. 155 cm ideal for trailers or big bags.

What this means:

The trailer can stand wherever it fits. Front, rear, left, right – the discharge is turned towards the vehicle, not the other way round. In confined conditions along hedges, roadsides or in the yard, this is decisive.

155 cm discharge height clears the side board of a standard agricultural trailer. No shovelling afterwards, no second loading operation.

Straight into big bags. For businesses bagging or selling chips, the transfer step is eliminated entirely.

When working in rowsfor instance in fruit growing and viticulture – the discharge can be turned so that the chips are deposited directly as mulch in the row.

PTO speed 540–1000 rpm – the flexible specification

The chipper works at 540 or 1000 rpm. This is a practical advantage that broadens tractor choice:

540 rpm is the standard speed on smaller and older tractors.

1000 rpm delivers more power at the PTO for the same engine output and is common on modern tractors.

A machine capable of both fits practically any tractor in the relevant power range.

25 HP minimum, 45 HP recommended

The minimum requirement of 25 HP makes the chipper usable with smaller tractors, narrow-track machines in fruit growing and viticulture, and municipal vehicles.

45 HP is recommended – with this reserve the machine works through heavy branch material without any drop in speed and reaches its full throughput.

The recommendation should be taken seriously: at 120 mm diameter and minimum power, feeding will have to be noticeably slower.

1,200 Nm slip clutch – the recommended overload protection

The manufacturer recommends a slip clutch rated at 1,200 Nm. This recommendation should be followed.

The reason: the cutting disc has considerable flywheel mass. If it blocks abruptly – for instance through a foreign object or an oversized branch – the stored energy acts unchecked on the PTO shaft, gearbox and the drivelines of both chipper and tractor.

The slip clutch limits this torque. It is the cheapest insurance against the most expensive kind of damage.

The 1,200 Nm figure is not a guideline but a specification: a clutch that is too weak slips constantly and wears out, one that is too strong does not protect.

Three-point linkage

Mounting is via the three-point linkagestandard on every tractor, no special equipment, quick hitching and unhitching.

Durable and maintenance-friendly

The manufacturer cites easily accessible assemblies as a design feature. On a machine with defined wear parts this is decisive: blade changes, counter blade adjustment and inspection of the feed rollers must be possible without dismantling major assemblies.

What the chips are used for

The manufacturer's statement is deliberately differentiated here:

Mulch – for beds, tree discs, paths and row crops. Chip quality is uncritical here.

Path surfacingas a water-bound top layer on forest and bridle paths.

Heating systems depending on quality requirements. This qualification matters: chip heating systems demand defined size classes and maximum fines content. Whether the chips produced are suitable depends on blade condition, settings and input material – the specifications of the respective heating system must be checked.

Safety and notes

Always wear suitable protective clothing and use protective covers.

Operate only with matching tractor power and correctly set overload protection.

Observe the operating manual and local regulations.

Additional practical points:

Only intervene when the machine is stationary. Before maintenance, blade changes and fault clearance, switch off the PTO, stop the engine and wait for the cutting disc to come to a standstill – the flywheel mass continues to run.

Personal protective equipment: hearing protection, safety glasses or face shield, gloves, safety footwear and close-fitting clothing. No gauntlet gloves, no scarves or loose garments.

Never reach into the feed hopper. Not even to push material in – that is what the hydraulic feed is for.

Avoid foreign objects. Stones, wire, nails and metal parts damage blades and counter blade and can be ejected.

Keep the discharge direction clear. At 155 cm discharge height and high discharge speed, the area in front of the chute must be consistently kept clear.

As power-driven work equipment, chippers are subject to requirements regarding protective devices and recurring inspection under the applicable national regulations.

Why this machine?

Hydraulic feed, powerful disc technology and solid workmanship make this chipper the economical solution wherever larger quantities of branch material regularly have to be processed reliably into wood chips.

Typical Applications

Farmyard and woody plant maintenance, fruit growing and viticulture, landscape management, municipal depots, contractors, garden and forestry service providers, wood chip production for mulch, path construction and heating systems, tree care and tree nurseries, cemetery and park maintenance, roadside greenery and hedge maintenance, agriculture and forestry, equestrian facilities.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the hydraulic feed achieve?
Comfortable, controlled intake – less jamming, greater throughput. Above all, it considerably increases operating safety: hands stay outside the danger zone instead of having to push material in.

What does the infinitely variable feed rate achieve?
It matches the feed speed to the material. The machine therefore works consistently at its performance limit instead of oscillating between idling and overload – which yields considerably more throughput in practice.

What diameter can the chipper handle?
Fresh softwood up to 120 mm, fresh hardwood up to 100 mm, dry hardwood up to 80 mm.

Why are three different diameters stated?
Because wood species and moisture condition substantially affect cutting performance. Fresh wood can be processed up to 40 mm thicker than dry wood.

How many blades does the machine have?
4 cutting blades and 1 counter blade. The blades are replaceable and made of wear-resistant steel.

Can I adjust the chip size?
Yes, chip thickness is adjustable via the blades.

What is the difference to a roller chipper?
A disc chipper works with a rotating cutting disc with high flywheel mass. This produces cleaner, more uniform chips and a powerful discharge – the prerequisite for the 155 cm discharge height.

How large is the feed opening?
48 × 48 cm – expressly suitable for branched material too. Branches with side shoots do not need pre-trimming.

How flexible is the discharge?
The discharge chute rotates through a full 360°, with a discharge height of approx. 155 cm. This allows loading directly into trailers or big bags – the trailer can stand wherever it fits.

What PTO speed do I need?
The machine works at 540 or 1000 rpm – it therefore fits practically any tractor in the relevant power range.

How much tractor power do I need?
At least 25 HP, 45 HP recommended. At maximum diameter and minimum power, feeding must be noticeably slower.

Do I need a slip clutch?
It is expressly recommended: 1,200 Nm. The cutting disc has considerable flywheel mass – in the event of sudden blockage this energy acts unchecked on PTO shaft and gearbox. The slip clutch limits the torque.

Is the cardan shaft included?
Depending on the offer, no – please check before ordering.

Are the chips suitable for heating systems?
Depending on quality requirements. Chip heating systems demand defined size classes and maximum fines content; the specifications of the respective system must be checked. For mulch and path construction, quality is uncritical.

What should I watch during maintenance?
The most important task is checking the clearance between blades and counter blade. If it is too large, material is crushed rather than cut – costing power and producing fibrous chips.

What protective equipment do I need?
Hearing protection, safety glasses or face shield, gloves, safety footwear and close-fitting clothing. Protective covers must always be used.
